Community Engagement
In keeping with McDermott’s values and commitment to
sustainability, our employees demonstrate their involvement with
local communities through a wide range of volunteer activities.
Employees from our global Legal, Ethics and Compliance,
Communications and Marketing, Sustainability and Contract
Management teams joined with our ERGs to epitomize this spirit when
they gave back to their communities with a Global Day of Service. Over
a week, more than 170 employees worked to aid eight organizations in
communities where we operate.
Our Saudi Arabia team hosted an event at Al Muhaideb Syndrome
Center, engaging children and their parents in creative sensory and
physical activities. Our colleagues in Gurgaon painted murals on the
walls of the Sapno Ke Pankh Orphanage before leading interactive
teaching sessions.
A team of Houston employees enhanced the Ballard House – a facility
for families of patients receiving treatment at the Texas Medical
Center. In partnership with the Holma Blood Bank, a Ugandan team
led a blood donation drive in Katanga, Wanseko Town Council. And
colleagues from Kuala Lumpur brought 150 boxes of food, clothing,
toys, and books to the Ulu Kuang Indigenous Center.
Employees from Batam, London, Qatar, The Hague and UAE led
clean-up initiatives to mitigate plastic pollution and support waste
management.

CASE STUDY
MANGROVE PLANTING IN BATAM
Our Batam fabrication yard joined a mangrove planting
program that planted 1,000 saplings over a 60 squaremeter area. Planting mimics natural growth patterns, which
enhances forest resilience and ecological bene昀椀ts, including
shoreline stabilization, biodiversity support, and carbon
sequestration. The initiative will help reverse the previous
decline of mangrove trees, which led to coastal erosion and
昀氀ood risk, declining 昀椀sh and shrimp populations, and loss of
critical habitats for marine and coastal species.
Mangroves have a local importance for Batam
in preventing erosion of the shoreline as well as a
global importance in sequestering carbon.”
