Our safety programs are aligning to International
Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) 642 - Learning from
normal works including discipline in extracting
lessons from everyday operations to improve
safety, ef昀椀ciency, and productivity.
In 2023, we introduced a dashboard to monitor
the volume and content of the communication
cards submitted by employees. The
Communication Cards provide employees
an avenue to effectively communicate QHSES
related issues/concerns and or recognitions
to Management. In addition, they provide
management the opportunity to correct QHSES
Hazards, improve productivity, and foster
compliance with our QHSES Management
System. In 2025, 106,577 cards were submitted, a
136% increase over 2024. The rise in the number
of cards re昀氀ects an engaged workforce that
trusts our Company’s responsiveness to issues
and concerns.
During the second quarter, we successfully
launched McDermott’s Life Saving Rules globally,
establishing clear and actionable standards that
embed consistent expectations for critical risk
control across all operations. This comprehensive
program ensures employees clearly understand
and apply our core safety expectations, reinforcing
safe work behaviors and strengthening our
organization wide focus on preventing serious
and fatal incidents. Continuous reinforcement of
the Life Saving Rules is embedded into our culture
and re昀氀ected in how we plan, communicate, and
execute work at all levels of the organization.
During the year, led by our CEO, we assessed
and improved our safe work practices through
a deep dive into McDermott’s enterprise-wide
processes by completing 20 Safe System of Work
(SSOW) audits, strengthening compliance, control
effectiveness, and leadership oversight of high-risk
activities. Leadership engagements proactively
addressed unsafe conditions and line of 昀椀re risks,
reinforced Life-Saving Rules, and delivered >90%
feedback closure and 88% action completion.
Our Stop Work Obligation (SWO) continues
to positively in昀氀uence our safety culture by
reinforcing that every employee has the
authority and support to stop work when
conditions are unsafe. Regular use of SWO
in the 昀椀eld shows growing con昀椀dence and
stronger ownership of risk at the frontline.
Recognizing employees who exercise their SWO
has further encouraged proactive intervention
and strengthened trust between teams and
leadership. This approach is contributing to
better task planning, and improved adherence
to critical controls.
