COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Giving back to our communities
Across the globe, our employees demonstrate a lasting
commitment to local communities through a wide range of
volunteer activities.
This spirit was epitomized by Sustainability and Governance (S&G)
teams worldwide, which dedicated the Global Day of Service to
volunteer, donate, and serve others in their local communities. In
Uganda, the team donated mosquito nets and other material to a
local health center and provided malaria awareness to patients. In
Dubai, the team collected clothing to be recycled to help fund lifechanging cleft surgeries for children through Operation Smile UAE.
They also donated 80 former company laptops to a local training
institute.
Other S&G employees also made contributions. In Gurgaon,
the team raised money for a facility that cares for injured and
abandoned animals. The London group prepared and served
meals at a local charity that provides food, services, and advice for
homeless and disadvantaged people. In Brno, the team collected
and delivered recyclable clothing, baby items, and hygienic
products for two non-pro昀椀t organizations that support children
without parental care. Colleagues in The Hague provided birthday
gifts for children caught in poverty. And the Kuala Lumpur team
ran a month-long donation to collect 1,061 items for a center that
supports at-risk children.
Other McDermott colleagues, including those in Luanda, Rio de
Janeiro, and Kuala Lumpur, conducted beach cleanups, working to
mitigate plastic pollution and support waste management. Each
piece of debris removed helped protect marine life, preserving
the natural beauty of the coastline and raising awareness about
caring for the environment.
Teams in Malaysia, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia engaged in
tree planting activities. The Saudi Royal Family commended
McDermott’s unwavering partnership and invaluable contributions
to the success of the initiative, acknowledging the role of corporate
leadership in fostering environmental change.
