OUR PERFORMANCE
Safety
Our safety performance continues to be industry leading. We
concluded 2024 with a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.07
and a Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) of 0.01 across almost 99 million
workhours, including the performance of our subcontractors.
TOTAL RECORDABLE INCIDENT RATE
Our TRIR and LTIR rates are industry leading and demonstrate
our commitment to continuous improvement in safety. We met
or exceeded our targets on leading indicators, including training,
near-miss incident reviews, incident action close out, and health
and well-being programs.
In achieving these results, we have been mindful of the different
challenges many of our workers face, such as working at heights
and preventing hand injuries. To reduce risks to our workers, we
have instituted a range of tools and processes.
One of our most important tools is our Stop Work Obligation
(SWO) program, which empowers and reminds everyone working
at a McDermott site to stop and reassess a task with perceived
conditions and/or behaviors that might pose a danger to people,
environment, equipment, or reputation. In 2024, 4,136 SWOs were
recorded as an indication of the success of this program. As part
of our focus on organizational learning, we also encourage our
employees and subcontractors to report near incidents. In 2024,
we had 385 near misses reported across the organization, and 85%
of these incidents led to successful reviews and action closeouts
on time. Our management reviews these near-miss incidents to
ensure that we apply any lessons learned across the organization.
In 2024, we started to measure our leadership engagement
and the effectiveness of the platforms that we provide for our
employees to communicate with us. We supplied each employee
with a QHS card that enables them to communicate with us
digitally. This year, we received 44,747 communications from our
global employees. We review each of the cards and the resulting
actions as part of our leadership engagement.

BEHAVIOR-BASED SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
As a result of the feedback we received from our operational leadership and workforce, in 2024, we launched the behavior-based safety and
risk management program, which involves peer-to-peer observation in the workplace.
An outgrowth of our long-standing Stop Work Obligation, the new program encourages our employees to care about their fellow workers’
safety by observing their colleagues while on their jobs and identifying any existing risk.
The program is consistent with our company’s support for open and transparent communication wherein our employees are empowered to
stop their colleagues or even their supervisors to ensure that they are promoting safe work practices. In 2025, we will evaluate the effectiveness
of this enhanced behavior-based safety program.
